TiO₂ dispersion and coating steps
990 g powder + 10 g agent + 30 g water — the ratio cross-validates both the dilution ratio and the dosage.
Weigh three components
Weigh out the ground fibre-grade titanium dioxide pigment, RPEG20 and purified water separately.
TiO₂ 990 gRPEG20 10 gPurified water 30 gHigh-speed stirring · spray addition
First charge the TiO₂ into a high-speed mixer and start high-speed stirring; then mix the purified water with RPEG20 evenly and add it slowly through the feed port (spraying is best if available).
High-speed stirringSpraying preferred115 ℃ — water fully evaporated
When the temperature reaches about 115 ℃ and the water has fully evaporated, discharge the treated TiO₂ and let it cool before dispersion testing.

Principle: electromagnetic stirring makes an aqueous slurry; after standing in the settling tube, the ratio of slurry concentrations before and after settling is measured. Click a step to link the tube zone and variables.
Weigh 15±0.1 g of sample into a 500 mL conical flask, add 285 mL distilled water;
Stir for 30 min under a magnetic stirrer to make slurry A;
Pipette 10 mL of slurry A into a pre-weighed evaporating dish, weigh immediately as m1, and dry in an oven at 140±2 ℃;
Stir the remaining slurry A for another 2–5 min, immediately pour into a dry settling tube up to the 200 mm mark;
Leave the tube at room temperature for 5 hours;
Dry the slurry in the oven for about 4 hours, cool and weigh as m2, repeating to constant weight until the difference is ≤ 0.0002 g.
Withdraw the dispersion that has settled for 5 hours from the surface down to 170 mm (30 mm above the bottom) using a vacuum device, as dispersion B;
Stir dispersion B for 2–5 min, weigh as m3 by the same procedure, then dry to constant weight and weigh as m4.
= (1.09/23.26) ÷ (1.18/24.24) × 100 ≈ 0.047 ÷ 0.049 × 100 ≈ 95.9%Note: in the source record the letter order of the formula (m3/m4) contradicts the substituted values; it has been corrected by physical meaning (dry-weight ratio = concentration) to (m4/m3)/(m2/m1). Intermediate values are taken to three decimals as in the source, giving the reported 95.9%; calculated without rounding it is about 96.3%. This page uses the reported value.
Weathering test and performance comparison
After 2000.5 h of ageing the colour difference ΔE is only 0.09–0.11 — the colour is virtually unchanged.
